Hepatitis

of options if you or your child requires immunization against
Hepatitis B:
Engerix B -
Hepatitis B Vaccine
Three doses required. Second dose given 1 month after the first.
Third dose given 5 months after the second. People over the age
of 20 receive a higher dose of vaccine than those age 19 and younger.
Recombivax HB

Second dose given at least one month after the first. Third dose
given at least one month after the second.
Exception: Adolescents 11-15 years of age may receive the adult
dose (10µg/1.0ml) with a second dose 4 to 6 months later.
No third dose is needed with this schedule.
Twinrix - Hepatitis
A and B Vaccine
While immigration immunization requirements are for Hepatitis
B only, you may wish to be immunized with the combination product.
You should discuss the pros and cons with your doctor. Three doses
required. Second dose given 1 month after the first. Third dose
given 5 months after the second.
Additional information
on Hepatitis B and other immunizations can be found here.
Since there are
different vaccines and dosing schedules we must know what vaccine
was administered in addition to the dates of administration. At
the time of your immigration medical a full series of vaccinations
is not required HOWEVER you must be as far along in the dosing
schedule as possible.
While immunization
against viral hepatitis is likely a good ideal for people of all
ages, U.S. Immigration requirements are only for applicants under
the age of 18.
